I am thinking of putting Guild Wars on my Toshiba Satelite (most common one) which is for business only. However, I want to play guild wars on the run.

The only things that are stopping me is that my computer is currently slow, have a tonne of programs and files, my screen blacks out on me and my right arrow key does not work.

Here are my system requirements
Windows Vista home edition
Intel R Core (Tm)2 t5300 1.73ghz
1.00 gb ram
945 chipset

Some knowledge of my screen blackouts
Anything that requires video my screen will blackout
The processor works while blackout I can save files during blackouts

Bottom line. Is it a smart idea?

I would not recommend playing guild wars on that laptop.

I have that laptop, sounds like the same one, except I use XP Media Center since I abhor Vista....

I was able to run GW with it, but the best I could get at medium settings was 21-22 fps and very poor all around playing experience. I don't recommend it. I also had problems with my mouse cursor disapearing ingame as well....

Just building on the same topic here, I have a notebook at home that I'm not sure if it would run GW. I just assumed ask this question here opposed to making a new thread. The computer has an Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2330 @ 1.60 Ghz, it has 2.5g of ram and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100. It is an HP Compaq Presario C700.

Just looking for an opinion compared to my crappy desktop, I've seen people say it will run poorly on many of these kind of laptops, but keep in mind that right now I am used to playing it on a computer with 512mb of ram, a Nvidia 6200 card. No such thing as a dual core processor has ever touched my computer. So basically it is a 05 Dell 1100 and it sucks in my mind.

Enough with all of this random nonsense, if you didn't catch the question, I am asking how gw will run on the computer in the first paragraph, compared to the computer in the second paragraph.

despite the geforce 6200 being a crappy card
and despite the x3100 being a dx10 card and faster than a gma 950
i would have to say the geforce would still run it better, due to being a dedicated card

games depend more on the gpu than the cpu
so i would expect slightly worse performance from the laptop
however, it will still run it jus fine imo

Your Problem :

You better buy a new laptop with a 7800GT,HD3850 or better; 945 chip set is bad to play games on and buy some extra ram since you got vista I'd do 3GB

Intel integrated graphics basically suck for playing games. They are designed to run apps (browser, word processor, spreadsheet, etc.) and a bit of video (mpegs, avis, Youtube), but not 3D games.
There are however, integrated graphics from other manufacturers (ATI, nVidia) that can run 3D games. They are usually relatively slow, like the Intel ones, of course, but at least they run.
The best solution for a "gaming" laptop is to get one with a "dedicated" graphics GPU & RAM.

I used a Toshiba Satelite on Guild Wars for a couple of years. The only problem I had was heat. I had to use a fan pad or the computer would shut down. Only happened with GW running.
